The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and its Committee on the Environment (COTE) has revealed its Top Ten sustainable buildings in America. In its 19th year, COTE’s Top Ten awards is one of the more significant environmentally-focused architectural awards out there based on sustainable technology and design. The LEED gold-rated New School campus located at 65 Fifth Ave, Manhattan is featured on this list for its green roof that reduces storm water runoff. The green roof features a water treatment system that collects water from toilets, sinks, showers, dishwashers, and washing machines, then cleans it to feed the University Center’s cooling towers, and irrigation system.
