U.N. Climate Fund Hits $10 Billion
After surprise donations from Australia and Belgium, a new Green Climate Fund reached its $10 Billion goal on Tuesday (12/09) in Lima, Peru. Environment ministers are holding meetings until December 12 in order to find a solution to cut greenhouse gases in poor nations, and help them adapt to climate change. The final goal is to raise $100 billion yearly by 2020. However, China has stated that the pace of rich countries is relatively slow, while working out finance details is a key piece of the agreement, due to be finalized by late 2015 in Paris.
