Amazon Gets Heat from Nearby Data Center

Amazon is going to heat one of its new building in Seattle WA by the waste heat of a nearby data center. The data center located in the basement of Westin Building across the street of Amazon. Water will be heated in the data center and pumped to Amazon to heat it and then be sent back to the data center and reheated. Now the Amazon is looking even further to build a “heating district.” It is planning to let more buildings be heated by the waste heat of this data center. The Westin Building seems eager to have the deal and it teams up to help finish the project. The city of Seattle has begun offering credits for buildings using hydronic heat. While the policy is spurring more “green heat,” the Seattle Council recently has approved the plan of Amazon.
