In May this year, an old and energy-intensive hospital in Frankfurt, Germany was rebuilt into a newly energy efficient building. This news might reflect a new trend in the Passive House market. Hospitals have incentives to become more sustainable because they consume a huge amount power. In saving energy for hospitals, insulation measure is crucial. Due to high temperature requirement and almost continuous operation, hospitals have already created enough heat but the only problem is the escape of this heat outside, making insulation technology worthwhile. At the mean time, baseline report showed the priority should be given to reducing too much waste heat. Efforts in other parts should also be made to reduce the overall energy consumption. This trend might spread to US to fill the need of large hospitals such as Kaiser.
